چکیده

We present an optical study of the strong lensing galaxy cluster MS 0440.5$+$0204 at $z=0.19593$, based on CFHT/MegaCam g', r'-photometry and GMOS/Gemini CFHT/MOS/SIS spectroscopy in a broader area compared to previous works. have determined new spectroscopic redshifts for most prominent gravitational arcs surrounding central cluster. The information provided by photometric catalog yield us perform detailed weak mass reconstruction large number member galaxies covered our observations allow estimate more accurately velocity dispersion examine detail nature surroundings structures. dynamical is good agreement with inferred from analysis X-ray estimates. About $\sim$68\% are located inner $\lesssim$0.86 h$^{-1}_{70}$ Mpc region redshift distribution shows complex structure least three sub-structures along line-of-sight. Other also identified density map map. North-East overdensity distributed filament between ZwCL 0441.1$+$0211 clusters, suggesting that these two structures might be connected. 0440$+$0204 appears dynamically active, core likely experiencing merging process other nearby groups projected distances $\lesssim$1 could being accreted

The REFLEX galaxy cluster survey . VIII . Spectroscopic observations and optical atlas ⋆

We present the final data from the spectroscopic survey of the ROSAT-ESO Flux-Limited X-ray (REFLEX) catalog of galaxy clusters. The REFLEX survey covers 4.24 steradians (34% of the entire sky) below a declination of δ = +2.5 and at high Galactic latitude (|b| > 20◦). The REFLEX catalog includes 447 entries with a median redshift of 0.08 and is better than 90% complete to a limiting flux fX = 3...

Cosmography with cluster strong lensing

By stacking an ensemble of strong lensing clusters, we demonstrate the feasibility of placing constraints on the dark energy equation of state. This is achieved by using multiple images of sources at two or more distinct redshift planes. The sample of smooth clusters in our simulations is based on observations of massive clusters and the distribution of background galaxies is constructed using ...

Gravitational Lensing in Galaxy Cluster Abell 1689

Synopsis In this thesis we have set out to study the galaxy cluster Abell 1689 using strong grav-itational lensing. Due to its relative closeness at redshift 0.18 and available archived deep Hubble Space Telescope imaging it presents an ideal opportunity to several diverse studies based on strong gravitational lensing. We start with a brief introduction to cosmology and general relativity as we...

Galaxy-cluster associations from gravitational lensing

We investigate the associations between background galaxies and foreground clusters of galaxies due to the effect of gravitational lensing by clusters of galaxies. Similar to the well-known quasar-galaxy ones, these associations depend sensitively on the shape of galaxy number-magnitude or number-flux relation, and both positive and “negative” associations are found to be possible, depending on...

Cluster Strong Lensing Constraints on Dark Energy

Cluster strong lensing can be used to obtain constraints on cosmological parameters, in particular as we show here, the dark energy equation of state. This is achieved by using multiple images of sources at two or more distinct redshift planes. Utilizing many families of multiply imaged sources we obtain purely geometric constraints on dark energy that are largely independent of the properties ...
